An Unexpected Layout with July Kit from Svetlana Austin

Hi, everyone!
Svetlana Austin is here today with my first post and my first project for C'est Magnifique Kits.
But first I want to introduce myself.

So here it is. My name is Svetlana Austin.
I am a Russian girl who ended up living in hot South Africa for the past 11 years.
I met my husband while he was doing mission work in Russia.
We have 2 beautiful sons who keep us busy and fill our lives with sunshine
(not that we have lack of it in the northern part of our country).
I was always creative. I tried many different crafts but once I was introduced to scrapbooking by my friend,
I never stopped. It was 9 years ago.
I defiantly love to create layouts about my little boys the most.
My aim is to reflect their personalities through my work.
I love to make real boy’s layouts full of colors and details.
I like to use paint and sprays in my projects, as well as hand-stitching.
Sometimes I like to make very romantic and feminine layouts about myself or about my girl-friends.
It allows me to express the stuff that I personally like.
My scrapbooking style is always determined by photographs I use and what kind of story
I would like to tell through my project.
I had a pleasure to design for various Russian and international challenge blogs, as well as for some manufacturers.
You can visit my blog at Colorful Memories

I am very thankful and honored to be part of an amazing team at C'est Magnifique Kits!

"Unexpected" by Svetlana Austin

Evidence paper from UHK was the main inspiration for this layout.
I wanted to create something a bit "different".
I had this idea of making a collage style page with a lot of different elements.
Once I decided on a photograph for this project, which didn't take me too long,
I knew exactly how I want it to be.
This picture was taken by my mom during my last visit to Russia.
We went for picnic in the forest and on the way there we found an amazing display of graffiti paintings under a bridge. It was very bright, really well done and totally unexpected. So is my layout.
There are a lot of interesting but totally unexpected elements on it.
The bright and colorful photo also comes very unexpectedly on the black and white background.
I created the background by layering different papers, stamps and gesso applied through the mask
a couple of times.

Here are a couple of close-up images

Thank you for stopping by!
Make sure to come back again for more inspiration from our team with brand new July kit.

July Kit Sneak Peek from Camilla

Today I am going to show you the first sneak peek of what I have made with the upcoming July kit. It sure is a fabulous kit.

"Cake" by Camilla Ekman

The layout is for my children. They almost share the same birthday so we usually invite our family on the same day. BUT it is very important that the children get their own cakes. And the guests have to take a piece of each. The layout has a simple design centering around the photo using several of the Kaisercraft Collectables and Prima flowers.

Look What We Have For You in July!

Hi everyone!  If you subscribe to our newsletter you were the first to see the paper lines that we will be featuring in our July Kit.  If you're not a newsletter subscriber, it's easy to do.  You'll find a gold box on the left sidebar.  All you have to do is enter your e-mail address, and you'll be the first to know everything going on at C'est Magnifique Kits.  And we won't fill your inbox.  We just send out a couple of newsletters each month.

In July, you will find paper from two manufacturers in our kit and it is a combination that works so well together.  First, we have the bold black and cream "My Dear Watson" collection from a Polish company,  UHK Gallery.  We have added the soft elegance of several sheets from the "On This Day" collection from the Australian manufacturer, KaiserCraft.  If you are interested in purchasing the Paper Add-on, it can be found HERE in our store.

Our kits are filled with amazing embellishments, but if you are the type of scrapper who likes a little (or a lot) of extras, then our add-ons are perfect for you.  We reveal our add-ons early since they sell out quickly.  You can always get on our list to receive either, or both, of the add-ons each month by e-mailing leslie{at}cestmagnifiquekits.com.  Here are the add-ons for our July Kit.

The Last Looks at our June Kit

Today we will take a look at our June kit one last time before moving on to July.  I will let Keren and Erin show you the unique way they have used the kit.

"Natural Beauty" by Keren Tamir

I really wanted to bring out the purple tones from the kit for this layout. I looks as if the paper is peeling off the wall. I really like that effect and how the photo frame is hanging off the peeled paper. I used all the purple embellishments in this kit and I colored some other ones with purple chalkboard ink from Tattered Angels. The Blue Fern chipboard is one of my favorites!! I just love the effect.

"I Love You" Wall Hanging by Keren Tamir

I really wanted to create a project with the Prima wood icons box. First I primed it with Gesso and then painted it in shimmery green acrylic paint which matched the Maja papers perfectly. I cut out a picture of each of my kids and popped it in one of the squares. I also used the green toned Maja papers to fill the other squares in the grid. I decorated with flowers, resist canvas figures, mushrooms and used the Shabby Chic Mirror in the center to add a title.

 "Sip" by Erin Blegen

I love it when papers provide a sheet of cut-outs like Maja Design has done with this collection. I decided to create a collage that spanned my layout just so I could use a bunch of these beautiful cut-out elements. I added in some random stamping, inking, misting, and masking to create this fun page of my daughter delightfully sipping away at her chocolate shake.

"20 Mos" by Erin Blegen

I've made a promise to myself to get back into the basics of scrapbooking and start doing more documenting! I used to do monthly pages for each of my kids, talking about what they are
like at that time. But I've gotten away from that and so decided to record a little bit
about my sweet daughter at 20 months.

I decided to use some of the pretty strips from the bottom of the papers that I normally tend
to throw away. I've used them at the top of my layout, as well as to make the banner
that runs vertically behind my photo. When papers such as these provide such lovely
(yet generally disposed of) details- why not use them?

Thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to check back tomorrow to see if
YOU are the winner of our Bits & Pieces Giveaway!

Welcome our New Designers

We are excited to be adding four new designers to the C'est Magnifique Kits design team, but that means saying goodbye to a couple of awesome designers who have rotated off the team.  We sadly say goodbye to Keren Tamir and Brit Sviggum who wrapped up their term with the June Kit.  We could always count on Keren and Brit to wow us with their creative styles.  You will both be missed!  Thank you for sharing your creativity with us each month.

We welcome the following designers who will be joining us beginning with the July kit.  They are already behind the scenes using the kit and you are going to love what they've been doing!  Over the next few weeks each new designer will be introducing themselves on the blog, and showing you a sneak peek at the July kit.

Please join us in welcoming:

Evgenia Petzer, South Africa

Svetlana Austin, South Africa

Migbell Guzmán, Puerto Rico

We know you're going to be inspired by their unique styles!
